Den of thieves
Matthew 21:13: And He said to them, it is written, “My house shall be called the house of prayer”; but you have made it a den of thieves.
When Christians gather; they gather to pray, before anything is done or said Christians pray. The strange paradox is that so few Christians actually pray, and when a church is asked to come to a time of prayer, so few do. The real test is to see whether the people are more concerned with prayer or with numbers and income.
When Jesus entered the Temple into the Court of the Gentiles; there was so much business going on that there was no room for the gentiles to pray. Doing the business of tax collecting; tithe allocation and paying for sacrificial animals superseded the purpose; and that was to pray. In so many congregations the focus is on programmes and fellowship to pay for the buildings; utilities and most of all; the pastor.
Be encouraged today to make your home into a house of prayer.
