Fight the good fight

2 Timothy 2:3-5: Join me in suffering like a good soldier of the Messiah Jesus. No one serving in the military gets mixed up in civilian matters, for his aim is to please his commanding officer. Moreover, no one who is an athlete wins a prize unless he competes according to the rules.

As a soldier one is trained to discipline; follow orders and do what you are trained to do. In a contact or fire fight those who keep to the training may not be a hero; but have a greater chance of survival. As a Christian the teachings of the Apostles often refer to that of a soldier or athlete; and this is important to note.

As followers of Jesus we should be taught to follow these principles from an early age so that when we are mature we will be an example to the younger believers. Veterans have much to teach others and it is when we teach from experience we teach others how to cope and survive in tumultuous times. To have stood for Jesus and have fought the good fight for our belief in Jesus is the reward in itself.

Be encouraged today to fight the good fight for Jesus.

David

Point to ponder: Jesus is worth fighting for.

Question to consider: Have you spoken to the veterans of the Christian faith?
