Travail

Exodus 18:8: And Moses told his father-in-law all that Jehovah had done to Pharaoh and the Egyptians for Israel’s sake, all the travail that had come upon them by the way, and how Jehovah delivered them.

Travail is a word that we seldom use today; yet it is one of the most descriptive used in the Bible. In English at the time the King James Bible was translated there were over 650000 thousand words in common use at that time; the poor French used less than 300000. It is in this context that the word travail reached popularity: struggle, effort, exertion, hard work, labour describing what people go through almost every day.

Many of us would consider that the journey we are on is similar to the Israelites leaving Egypt and all the difficulties they faced. They travailed along the way yet Jehovah was with them as He led them out of captivity. Just as we today still have travail in our lives as we journey to our own Promised Land.

Be encouraged today to be encouraged that as we face daily travail the Lord is with us.

David

Point to ponder: Travail is the challenges we face on the journey of life.

Question to consider: Every journey has its challenges?
